...and how dA deals with deviation reports.
I know this is not a new problem with the amount of stolen works and the sluggish system of reporting a deviation to the staff. However, with 2 instances in regards to deviation reporting in the past week, I have no words to describe how terrible the staff deals with these things. Sure there may be a lot of reports but I will explain why I am still frustrated later in the journal, although I am the least involved.
Earlier this week, someone has brought to my attention that, eskile (not tagging him into this journal), has been taking pictures from many places and severely altering them so it makes it hard to find the original source. However, a journal has been made about all his stolen artwork, and can be followed with updates here: <da:thumb id="500276644"/>. I've seen him around many times, and has been submitting to a few groups that I admin. He's a longtime member of dA, and apparently somewhat respectable with the amount of watchers. I did have some doubts about his artworks because it's always heavily edited, but I had a hard time finding the actual source...until this journal was made. Anyway, I just want to raise awareness about my experiences and hope that you'll do the same. If you have doubts about their submissions, don't ignore them. Here were my doubts:
- Why are the pictures heavily edited?
- How is he multi-talented? Sure, he really could be talented but is it too good to be true?
Had I took the effort to dig around earlier, he would have been caught earlier. But again, he flips pictures, alters colours, layer pictures together, and adds (unflattering) borders/frames, which makes it hard to find.
Here's my second frustration. I have finally received a reply from a deviation I've reported
from 2012. This is what it says:
imgur.com/Vmw4XjX. Here's the reported deviation:
. The comments clearly show that many others have probably reported this as well, including the original owner (theresahelmer, formerly emerald753). It's almost 2015 so this deviation report is pretty much irrelevant because the reported account is inactive, and no one remembers this.
Anyway, that's all about my frustrations.
Have a wonderful winter holiday!
Pardon my typos if I have any in there, my mind is on vacation.
